Firstly, what do we mean by 'the countryside'?

land outside towns and cities, with fields, woods, etc.

  • magnificent views over open countryside
  • the beautiful countryside of Wales
  • Everyone should enjoy the right of access to the countryside.
  • in the countryside the quieter pace of life in the countryside
