questioning hierarchies in language teaching

Hierarchies in the classroom can make sense.

For example, the first things we learn or teach:

It can get very academic:

However, we do need to question a lot of the 'given' hierarchies of how we understand our (learning) needs.

There are all sorts of systems which see things as a 'hierarchy' - including Maslow:
